Its not easy!! To transport even a drop of blood to the right location in the brain requires a concerted effort by thousands of neurovascular proteins. This image visualizes the expression of 1000 neurovascular proteins. Each node in the graph, derived using the Julia set equation, represents the observation of a protein, and is sized proportional to the strength of the expression. Edges exist between nodes that were detected using the same proteomics method, and the weight of the edge is scaled proportional to the number of peptides observed. Neurovascular protein data were obtained from Badhwar et. al., Journal of Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism, 2014.
